Providing food to those in need
Bless us, Oh Lord,
and these thy gifts which
we are about to receive from thy bounty,

I created this site in 2007 and since then it has really taken off and we've fed at least 11 families in that time. That may not seem like a large number but in the grand scheme of things, if I could only feed one family, I'd be satisfied with even that. I'm going into my 3rd year with this venture. In the beginning of this year, 2009, I had almost decided that there was way too much going on right now in my life, and that I'd take this year off. But then I realized that my schedule and commitments would NEVER stop me from helping those in need. Not after so many people are in need and have come to count on this.
I have a good feeling about this year's food drive & while I know that we're all in a pinch it seems, with our own financial obligations and such, I know that I can still count on many people to give.
The primary goal is to collect food items that will complete a Thanksgiving dinner for families in need, but any and all food items are greatly appreciated! There is a list of food items on the "how to help" tab, if you need some ideas.
In 2008, my stepmom's place of employment donated a DOZEN CANNED HAMS to this cause... and that was such a wonderful addition to last year's donations!
The past 2 years, I've (with the help of a great friend!) made the deliveries to homes, personally. I'm still debating on that for now, I'll figure out the logistics when we come to that stage, but for now I'm focusing on the donations and getting it all together. Thanks for your help in making this possible.. and helping to provide a holiday meal to a family who otherwise might not have one.
